Luxembourg is famous as the only country in the world to offer free public transport - and now it’s set to expand its reach. Since 2020, all buses, trains and trams have been free of charge throughout the micronation and a new pilot scheme will offer commuters who live in French municipalities bordering Luxembourg the same benefits. The service, which will operate during peak hours in the morning and evening, will extend to thousands of commuters who live in France and work in the Grand Duchy. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has weighed in on the debate over how to expand the electric car market, saying on Tuesday that growth will depend on their affordability and the availability of charging points. Increasing exports of electric cars from Chinese manufacturers, which accounted for more than half of global sales in 2023, could further increase the pressure on car prices, the IEA said on Tuesday in its annual Global EV Outlook. Chinese companies with production facilities abroad had achieved strong sales in overseas markets with more affordable models launched in 2022 and 2023...

Tesla is to cut the price of some of its cars in an effort to combat declining sales and growing competition. Prices will be reduced in Germany - Tesla's biggest European market - and elsewhere in Europe as well as the Middle East and Africa, the company has revealed. In Germany, the cost of the Model 3 rear wheel drive will fall from €42,990 to €40,990. The news comes after the world's largest EV maker cut around a third off the price of its "Full Self Driving" system - which is not a self-drive which means drivers must remain alert and be ready to intervene - to $8,000 (€7,505) from $12,000 ...

Transport alone is set to make up almost half of Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2030, a new analysis from campaign group Transport & Environment (T&E) has found. Emissions from transport across the continent have increased by more than a quarter since 1990 despite overall emissions being in decline. Since its peak in 2007, transport has been decarbonising more than three times slower than the rest of the economy, T&E found. “The good news is transport emissions in Europe have peaked. The bad news is other sectors are decarbonising three times faster,” says William Todts, executive direct...
