Twitch has reversed a recent policy shift that allowed more adult content. The platform said last week the raunchy material would be permitted on its pages if it was deemed artistic – but the shift led to an influx of digitally created nude images. Its CEO Dan Clancy acknowledged the company had made a misstep with the change in a statement in which he said: “Upon reflection, we have decided that we went too far with this change.” Clancy also acknowledged concerns over some of the imagery allowed on Twitch under the updated guidelines, and he emphasised that going forward depictions of real or...

The Amazon-owned streaming site was permitting adult material such as nude drawings and sculptures – providing it is deemed artistic - after its new guidelines came into place last week, however, the company has quickly made a U-turn. CEO Dan Clancy said: "Effective today, we are rolling back the artistic nudity changes. "Moving forward, depictions of real or fictional nudity won't be allowed on Twitch, regardless of the medium." It comes after some of the X-rated content was "met with community concern". Clancy continued: "Upon reflection, we ha...

Twitch co-founder Emmett Shear has resigned as CEO. The internet entrepreneur and investor, who was key in the launch of the streaming platform in 2011 and its predecessor Justin.tv in 2006, has been replaced by current President Dan Clancy in the role of CEO. However, Shear will still have an advisory role. The move comes after Shear became a father for the first time and wanting to spend more time with his son. A Twitch blog post explained: “With my first child just born, I’ve been reflecting on my future with Twitch. Twitch often feels to me like a child I’ve been raising as well. And while...
