In December, quarterback Riley Leonard committed to Notre Dame in the transfer portal. On Monday, On3’s Andy Staples and Clark Brooks revealed what Leonard will bring to the Fighting Irish. “He executes core concepts very, very well,” Brooks said. “While I might have some qualms with his ability to throw downfield and be a downfield producer, his processing power, his cerebral approach to the game is in a class of its own compared to this this current crop. “When you bring in his healthy legs, that is an another dynamic that other people just cannot offer. At the time of his injury, he had the...

Daniel Jones wasn’t thrilled that Giants coach Brian Daboll sent him to the bench this week when the rest of the team did 11-on-11 drills. The quarterback’s knee still is a little tender. But Jones is competitive. “I wasn’t pumped up,” Jones told reporters following Tuesday’s session of minicamp. “I’m not a coach, I don’t make those calls. I understand. Dabs wanted to get a lot of team work and that’s what they did. Yeah, wasn’t my favorite thing, but that’s not my job.” From that comment alone, Giants fans probably can ascertain that Jones’ surgically-repaired knee is feeling pretty good. He ...

After another week of working back from a knee-injury that ended his 2023 campaign, Daniel Jones is looking to get back to leading the New York Giants during the 2024 NFL season. With that in mind, Giants head coach Brian Daboll is hoping we see more of Jones’ 2022 form, ahead of the duo’s third season together. That was the season that convinced a new regime that the former Duke Blue Devils quarterback was the one to lead the Giants for the foreseeable future. However, some major injuries have kept Jones out over the last year, a neck injury suffered against the Miami Dolphins caused him to m...

Brian Daboll is hoping we see more of Daniel Jones from 2022 ahead of the third campaign between the New York Giants coach and the former Duke Blue Devils quarterback. That was the season where Daboll established himself as a formidable NFL leader, and Jones proved to the Giants he can be the guy under center for New York for years to come. Until last season came of course, when Jones struggled while on the field, and eventually ended up with two major injuries. Now, he’s working his way back from a torn ACL suffered against the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, and looking to elevate his game to pas...

The Manny Diaz era begins at Duke this season as the defensive mastermind returns to the ACC and follows in the footsteps of Mike Elko. Taking over the reins of a Blue Devils program that will have to rebuild in various areas if they want to see success in 2024. Between several losses in the transfer portal and to the NFL, it’s no secret that Diaz and his new coaching staff have their work cut out for them this upcoming season. Joining an ACC that will look much different than when he was the head coach at Miami in 2021. ACC Network’s Roddy Jones joined Andy Staples On3 to discuss Duke’s upcom...

Yes, Daniel Jones noticed that the Giants seemed interested in selecting a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft. He’d signed a big deal last year and now the team was looking around for his replacement. “I mean, I wasn’t fired up about it,” Jones told reporters at a Giants media availability this week. But New York, which owned pick No. 6, went with dazzling LSU wide out Malik Nabers instead of a quarterback. The Giants reportedly wanted North Carolina’s Drake Maye, if he’d been available. However, the Patriots grabbed him with the third pick. But the Giants didn’t want to use the s...

New Mexico State transfer running back Star Thomas has cut his list to four schools, On3’s Pete Nakos reported Wednesday. Ole Miss, Cal, Duke and Toledo are the finalists for the former second team All-C-USA performer. Thomas rushed for a total of 1,173 yards and nine touchdowns over the past two seasons with the Aggies. That included 653 yards and four scores this past season while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. Prior to New Mexico State, the 6-foot, 225-pound running back played one season at Coffeyville Community College (KS) in 2021, helping the team to the KJCCC Conference Championship. T...

David Cutcliffe has not been the Duke head coach since the 2021 season, moving on from one another after a 3-9 season. He completely moved on from the program and held other roles in college athletics, most recently with the SEC. Duke still sent Cutcliffe a nice chunk of change the following year, though. According to Steve Berkowitz of the USA TODAY, Cutcliffe received around $4.4 million in severance from Duke in 2022. In an era where college football buyouts are well over $50 million at times, not a bad deal for the Blue Devils. You have to imagine Cutcliffe is complaining either. After all...

Mack Brown had an intriguing answer when he was asked about his biggest coaching rivals during his legendary career. The North Carolina head coach is still going strong at 72 years old, but has a head coaching career spanning nearly four decades. Leading programs like Tulane, UNC twice and Texas can bring you face to face with all sorts of characters. Bob Stoops and Steve Spurrier seemingly stood out for Brown. I think that the two were Coach Stoops and Coach Spurrier,” Brown said on College Sports Radio on Sirius XM. “And they grew up together and we’re just different. They would come out and...
