The Iowa Hawkeyes might be a step closer to bringing another arm into their quarterback room. A source confirmed to HawkeyeReport.com early on Monday evening that Brendan Sullivan will begin a visit to Iowa City on Tuesday morning. The former Northwestern signal caller entered the NCAA transfer portal last month, which surprised many close to the Wildcat program. The 6-foot-3 and 225 pound quarterback will be entering his fourth year at the college level. Sullivan redshirted in his first year in Evanston and then he appeared in five games and made four starts (0-4) as a redshirt freshman for t...

For a while it looked like the Hawkeyes would have almost an entirely new defensive backfield in the 2024 season. Cooper DeJean seemed headed to the NFL and there was a decent chance that Jarmari Harris and Quinn Schulte would move on instead of returning for their Covid year. DeJean did opt for the NFL and was a second round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend. But, Harris decided to come back instead of pursuing the NFL and Schulte put dental school on hold for one more year to lead the Iowa secondary. While Iowa will certainly miss the impact that DeJean had every time he was on th...

We talk about history of the program, which is celebrating 75 years this year, a...

A 42 year run in the broadcast booth has come to an end for Ed Podolak. The legendary former Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs player announced on Monday that he will transition into a new role and no longer be a color commentator for Iowa football games. Podolak started his career working alongside the legendary Jim Zabel and then in the last 27 yards, he worked side by side with Gary Dolphin. While Podolak will no longer call games, he will still have a role on the Saturday broadcast, with pregame commentary and podcast appearances. “I have decided that this is a good time for me to step back f...

Generally there’s not a lot of intrigue heading into the final spring practice for the Iowa football team. But, with a new offensive coordinator and a few new faces on both sides of the ball, plus the transfer portal being open, there’s more intrigue than normal for Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa football program. On a cold and windy day in Iowa City, Ferentz and his squad wrapped up spring practice and we were able to speak with the Hawkeye head coach about what he thought his team accomplished in the 15 practices that are allowed by the NCAA. He also potentially gave us a hint as to what the futu...

There’s still a lot of work ahead, but Phil Parker dished out plenty of praise for the members of the Iowa defense. Parker spent a good amount of time breaking down all the positions on defense and the players who were having a strong spring practice. He also discusses what he has seen from Hawkeye offense this spring and much more. PHIL PARKER OPENING STATEMENT Thank you guys for coming. Obviously it’s this time of year. In the springtime, it’s unique because we haven’t lost a game yet, so that’s good. I think it’s a great time to develop some younger guys, and I think that’s happened. Obviou...
