Iranian authorities have interrogated the producers of Mohammad Rasoulof's new film, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, following its selection in Competition for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The nationwide mass protests sparked by the death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini in September 2022 have been followed by the second-highest number of executions in the country in more than 20 years, according to a recent report.
