I was all set to write about how both the Husker men's and women's basketball teams had hit the 20 win mark for the season. The men's had already reached that earlier by downing the Minnesota Gophers 73-55 on Sunday, February 25th. They added another victory last Sunday by beating Rutgers at home 67-56. Husker Women So how are the women doing so far? All they had to do to reach 20 wins was to take care of business Sunday by beating 9th place Illinois (7-10 /14-14) on the road. To be sure, Sunday was The Caitlin Clack Show at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The only two things in doubt for the game were: Would Clark get the 39 points she needed to break the all-time D-1 women's career basketball scoring record and by how many points would the Hawkeyes beat Nebraska. It didn't look good for the home team Huskers late in the game. In fact going into the fourth quarter, Iowa led by 14 and Clark already had 31 points. Shelley is the first first-teamer of the Amy Williams era Four Huskers picked up All-Big Ten honors from conference coaches and media Tuesday. Jaz Shelley earned first-team honors from league coaches while media named her to the second team. Both coaches and media named Alexis Markowski to the second-team. Issie Bourne and Sam Haiby were both honorable mention. Shelley has averaged 14.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists. In a deep league, the Huskers notch multiple honors The Big Ten Conference announced their season awards for women's basketball Tuesday morning, with Nebraska represented in the honors. Sophomore Jaz Shelley and freshman Alexis Markowski were each voted to the All-Big Ten team by both league coaches and media.
