Kentucky gymnastics star Raena Worley just wrapped up her senior season at Kentucky, capping off what was an incredible career in Lexington. This season, Worley became the first ‘Cat to be a finalist for the Honda Award for since Jenny Hansen (1993-1995). However, the 13-time All-American won’t be leaving town as she has been named as an assistant coach for the UK gymnastics team. Worley’s legendary career at Kentucky has earned her a chance to help coach the team she led for the better part of four years. In a post responding to the news, she said, “Beyond excited!!! Go cats always.” As a fre...

The Kentucky track and field program rose to national prominence in the hurdles. Keaton Daniel jumped a little bit higher to bring another National Championship back to Lexington. At this week’s Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, the accomplished senior from Nevada skipped the first few heights before settling in at just over 17’7. He cleared the bar easily on his first attempt, then continued to ascend. He remained perfect before clearing 18’7.25”/5.67 meters, tying for his best mark of the season, to hold off Kansas’ Clayton Simms for the gold medal in pole vault. Daniel has been knock...

Go Syd, go! Former Kentucky Wildcat and world-record holder, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, set a personal best in the 200-meter dash on Saturday with a blazing time of 20.07 seconds, good for first place at the Los Angeles Grand Prix Track and Field event. McLaughlin-Levrone is prepping for what could be an epic run (pun entirely intended) at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. These Grand Prix games are essentially dress rehearsals for the Olympic Trials, which will take place starting June 21st. Oddly enough, she likely won’t run the 200-meter dash at the Olympic Trials. She used this race to prep for ...

Another deep postseason run for the Kentucky men’s tennis team came to an unfortunate end on Thursday evening. No. 5 Kentucky saw their season end in the Elite Eight against No. 4 TCU in the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships. Two years ago, we saw the Wildcats finish the 2022 season as the national runner-up, but this year Kentucky will unfortunately not be bringing the national championship hardware back to Lexington. The Horned Frogs were able to handle the two-time defending SEC champions on the campus of Oklahoma State. Cedric Kauffmann’s program will now close the book on the 2024 seas...

This is the final boarding call for the Kentucky Men’s Tennis bandwagon. You should be seated already, but there is still room to get on board if you’re late to the station. We need everyone riding with the Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. today when No. 5 Kentucky (27-2) faces No. 4 TCU (25-4) in the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA D1 Men’s Tennis Championship. This is newly-familiar territory for Cedric Kauffmann’s program; it is UK’s third consecutive Elite Eight appearance, but only the seventh in school history. These are unprecedented times, and as I said, you still have time to pay closer attention t...

Kentucky players across all sports have been putting the student in student-athlete. For 12 years and counting, University of Kentucky athletes have posted at least a 3.0 grade point average. With the spring semester officially wrapped up, the Wildcat posted an impressive 3.276 GPA amongst just scholarship athletes. If you include non-scholarship athletes (i.e. walk-ons), this number jumped to 3.304. Mitch Barnhart sounded like a proud papa when boasting about the results: “I’m proud of the consistency shown in achieving 24 straight semesters of a 3.0 GPA. Strong GPAs are the foundation of gra...

The No. 5 Kentucky Wildcats (27-2) defeated the No. 12 Harvard Crimson (22-7) 4-2 on a beautiful Lexington afternoon in the NCAA Sweet 16. In front of a large home crowd, the Wildcats won their 20th straight match to punch a ticket to the quarterfinals for the third year in a row and seventh time overall. “I’m really proud of the boys,” UK head coach Cedric Kauffmann said. “Hardest workers in the country. They deserve this moment. But we don’t want to be done. We will go to Stillwater and try to keep it going.” Graduate student Taha Baadi clinched the victory with a thrilling 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win...

For the third straight year, Kentucky men’s tennis has made it to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16. This time around, the No. 5 Wildcats (26-2) took down the Illinois Fighting Illini (16-10) by a final score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Boone Tennis Complex in Lexington. Illinois came into the match with revenge on the mind after falling to Kentucky earlier in the season by the same score of 4-3. And even though the ‘Cats went down early, young star power shined down the stretch. With the match knotted at 3-3, freshman Jack Loutit broke the tie to secure the win. Kentucky had just beaten...

The Wildcats (25-2) swept the DePaul Blue Demons (14-10) last night 4-0 in Lexington at the Boone Tennis Complex, advancing to Saturday afternoon’s second round, which features a matchup against Illinois. SEC Tournament champions this season for just the third time in school history, Kentucky is on a hunt to go even farther than last season’s NCAA Tournam...
