Preston North End put up little fight as Leicester City romped to the Championship title with a 3-0 win at Deepdale. North End had kept it fairly tight in the first half before Jamie Vardy scuffed a shot into the corner. The Lilywhites heads then dropped as they so often do and the second half was a training exercise for Leicester. Predictable You’d struggle to find a Preston fan who would have thought this game would have ended in any other manner. As so often seems to be the case we end up watching other teams celebrate success at the end of the season. Leicester needed a win to secure the t...

Ryan Lowe’s Preston North End continued their dreadful April form as they handed Queens Park Rangers a 1-0 win thanks to a calamitous error from Freddie Woodman. The win almost guarantees QPR safety and any relegation struggler must relish the chance to play Preston at this stage of the season. Amateur performance from Woodman Freddie Woodman has been one of the more reliable players in the Preston team this season. He did go through a sticky patch before Christmas and was dropped for the game against Swansea City. But the second half of the season has seen his confidence rise and more clean s...

Preston North End were on the end of a heavy defeat from Southampton on Tuesday night. The Saints comfortably won 3-0 with the game wrapped up in the first half. It was a result that the vast majority of Preston fans could have predicted. As is often the case at this stage of the season when the play-offs just move out of sight, the players and management effectively pack their bags and head off to the beach. We’ve been here before At this stage of the season in both of Ryan Lowe’s previous campaigns we have seen some embarrassing displays resulting in easy wins for the opposition. After losin...

Preston North End fell short in what was their pivotal game of the season, as Norwich City scored a late winner to strengthen their hold on the final play-off place. After some favourable results in midweek Preston had the opportunity to overtake The Canaries if they beat them and won their game in hand. The game was finely poised throughout but ultimately Preston lost out to a very strong team with more quality on show. Déjà vu It feels as if many of our seasons in the Championship since returning to this level in 2015 have ended in this manner. We have patches of good form intertwined with s...

Preston North End produced a rousing second-half display to come from behind and beat Huddersfield Town 4-1 on Tuesday night. This was a must-win game for North End after picking up just one point from two away games at Huddersfield Town and Watford. PNE started slowly though and fell behind to the relegation-threatened Terriers when Josh Koroma opened the scoring. A soft penalty handed PNE a chance to get level and Will Keane – the man brought down – stepped up to slot home. The game then became the Milutin Osmajic show as the striker came off the bench to rattle home an incredible hat-trick....

Milutin Osmajic scored a superb hat-trick off the bench as Preston North End came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town 4-1. After a lacklustre first half Will Keane scored his 13th goal of the season after winning a penalty himself before Osmajic scored a sensational seven minute hat-trick. A dismal first half Ryan Lowe is missing some key players and that showed in the first half. We weren’t getting high enough up the pitch with Andrew Hughes and Robbie Brady failing to cause any problems in the final third. With Huddersfield fighting for their lives they were always going to push for goals....

Preston North End drew 0-0 at Watford on Saturday afternoon with lingering hopes of a Championship play-off place now probably out of mind for most supporters. PNE needed a victory at Vicarage Road after falling to a 1-0 defeat at Birmingham City on Monday afternoon. Ryan Lowe was somewhat limited with the team he could pick with a host of midfielders out of action and Liam Millar also out of action. North End did manage to create some openings to win this one but it just wasn’t to be. Jack Whatmough’s early header went wide, Andrew Hughes drove an effort wide and Will Keane’s volley went just...

On Gentry Day Preston North End could only manage a 0-0 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road as their play-off ambitions slipped away even further. The task to get into the top six was made harder before kick-off as Norwich City edged the East Anglian Derby with a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town. At this stage points aren’t enough for Preston, they need to win as many games as possible. With some very tough fixtures on the horizon it looks as if yet again the season will fizzle out in April. A baffling team selection When the team news came out an hour before kick off, many Preston fans were scratchin...
