Five days after pitching a no-hitter, Nebraska baseball's Jackson Brockett was showered with accolades Monday. He also enjoyed a special date with history. The junior lefthander from Omaha was named national pitcher of the week by D1Baseball and Perfect Game, and he was also named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. Brockett's gem came Wednesday night in the Huskers' 8-0 win over Kansas State in Lincoln. He struck out 12 batters and walked two in his first start of the season. It was only the second nine-inning individual no-hitter in Nebraska program history. The first Husker to pull off the feat wa...

Nebraska baseball remained in the hunt for a Big Ten Conference title with a series victory at Minnesota this weekend. The Huskers topped the Gophers in two games, dropping Sunday's finale. NU is now 30-16 on the season, including 12-6 in the Big Ten. Minnesota is 21-21 with a league record of 7-11. Illinois leads the league at 13-5. Nebraska won a relatively high scoring affair Friday night, thanks in part to Dylan Carey's two-run home run in the seventh inning. That gave NU the lead a lead that wouldn't be given back as the Huskers won 10-7. The series was clinched Saturday with a 7-3 Husker...

Friday’s Nebraska-Minnesota series opener was a slugfest. Yet despite the untraditional game script and another off night for Brett Sears, the Huskers put together a stout offensive performance en route to a 10-7 win. After the Gophers overcame an early five-run Nebraska lead, Dylan Carey gave the Huskers a major shot in the arm with a two-run bomb in the seventh. That capped a three-hit, three-RBI day for the sophomore shortstop. It’s Carey’s third three-hit showing of the year. Will Bolt’s and company now own a 29-15 record and are 11-5 in Big Ten play. The Huskers outhit the Gophers 14-11. ...

On the heels of an improbable Jackson Brockett no-hitter and a critical 8-0 win over Kansas State, Nebraska baseball opens the month of May with a visit to the Twin Cities this weekend. Minnesota sits at 20-19 on the season and 6-9 in Big Ten play, good enough for a game back of the cutoff line for the conference tournament. Legendary Golden Gophers head coach John Anderson is in the midst of his 43rd and final season. He is the first and only Big Ten baseball coach with 600 wins in conference and has 1,365 career wins. A 2-1 series win over Penn State last week marked Minnesota’s first of the...

Finally, some midweek success for Nebraska baseball, and some history to go along with it. NU got a complete-game no-hitter Wednesday from junior lefthander Jackson Brockett. The Huskers beat Kansas State 8-0 at Haymarket Park in Lincoln. Brockett had pitched just 5.1 innings this season ahead of Wednesday's start. He notched 12 strikeouts on the night, a nice feather in the cap next to tossing Nebraska's first nine-inning no-hitter since 1954 and the sixth no-no in program history. At the plate, Ben Columbus hit a home run as part of a 2-for-3 day. Riley Silva also posted a pair of hits. Nebr...

An early deficit doomed Nebraska baseball Tuesday night in Omaha. The Huskers dropped their third game to Creighton in the month of April, this one 9-5. The last time the Bluejays beat NU three times in a month was March of 1993. Nebraska is now 27-15 and has lost five straight non-conference games. Creighton is 31-11. The first inning doomed Big Red, as Creighton's leadoff man Nolan Sailors hit a home run. That would be the only earned running allowed in the inning, though five more runs did score. NU strung together nine hits on the day but left 10 on base. Josh Caron posted the only multi-h...

For the just the third time in program history, Creighton has swept Nebraska in the season series. The Bluejays pounced on the Huskers to the tune of six runs (five unearned) in the first inning and launched three home runs en route to a 9-5 win over NU on Tuesday. Will Bolt’s squad has lost five consecutive midweek games, all in the month of April. Tyler Stone and Josh Caron each posted two-hit nights accompanied by an RBI but the Huskers reached double-digit strikeouts (12) for a second straight game. Creighton pitching issued six free passes, none came around to score. Nebraska’s arms allow...

Despite a host of weather obstacles and a delay that lasted over 24 hours, Nebraska and Iowa completed their three-game series on Sunday afternoon. Will Bolt’s Huskers locked up a series win in run-rule fashion by claiming a 12-2 victory after the resumption of Saturday’s suspended game. Nebraska blasted three home-runs and Josh Caron pieced together a phenomenal day at the plate finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs. The Hawkeyes answered with a dominant showing from Brody Brecht. He and reliever Jack Young combined to strike out the Huskers a season-high 15 times. Ste...

Nebraska baseball fought off weather and the Hawkeyes for a weekend series win. The Huskers took the series 2-1 over Iowa. NU is now 27-14 while Iowa falls to 24-17. Nebraska took game one on Friday 7-4. Brett Sears didn't factor into the decision and saw his streak of nine consecutive quality starts come to an end. Tyler Stone had a three-run home run while Riley Silva and Josh Overbeek both notched multi-hit games as the Huskers rallied from an early deficit. Game two became a multi-day affair. The game began on Saturday, where the Huskers jumped out to an 8-1 lead. But severe weather moved ...
