The Ole Miss Spirit’s Ben Garrett joined McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning on Wednesday to discuss Ole Miss football’s sky-high expectations entering the 2024-25 season. The Rebels have won 10 or more games in back-to-back years, as well as appeared in a pair of New Year’s Six bowls in each of the last three. They tallied a program-record 11 wins last season. Ole Miss, on paper, is a popular preseason pick for the expanded College Football Playoff. On3 national analyst Andy Staples this week released his own 12-team projection. Included was a first-round matchup between 10-seed Ole Miss and 7...

It’s commonly accepted Ole Miss has an absolutely stacked wide receivers room in 2024-25. The question is just how stacked it actually is. Well, Pro Football Focus released its Top 10 groups in college football on Wednesday. Ole Miss came in at No. 2, trailing only Oregon. The Rebels were followed by Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Miami (Florida), Colorado, LSU and Oklahoma. Ole Miss kept star veterans Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins from the NFL Draft in the off-season, while also adding former LSU wide receiver Deion Smith and a host of transfers. The Rebels pulled Juice Wells (South Ca...

Ole Miss football is fully back in the summer swing. The Rebels spent the final weeks of May scattered about the country. Third-year starting quarterback Jaxson Dart and a collection of his top pass-catchers trained in Dart’s home state of California. Among them was rising sophomore Cayden Lee. Lee’s coming off an impressive spring and looking to break through in a stacked Ole Miss wide receivers room. Third-year defensive lineman Jared Ivey worked a bit in Tampa. All the while, the Rebels coaches have kept busy recruiting and fortifying the roster. Deion Smith, formerly of LSU, arrived on Sat...

Ole Miss football recruiting ushered in June with star-studded commitments from the high-school ranks and transfer portal. Southern Illinois wide receiver Izaiah Hartrup announced for the Rebels on Friday. He was just the start. Another receiver, Jordan Smart of North Texas, followed a day later. The Rebels snagged four-star 2025 safety Keon Young on Sunday. They’re not done, either. Well, if Lane Kiffin and Co. have it their way. Five-star wideout Caleb Cunningham, the top prospect in Mississippi, will visit Ole Miss on Tuesday, as first-reported by the Ole Miss Spirit’s Zach Berry. Berry sto...

Twelve Saturdays remain until the return of college football. Ole Miss has 91 days, specifically. But who’s counting, right? Turns out, pretty much everyone. Just this week times and TV assignments were announced by the SEC for the Rebels’ 2024 games with Furman, Middle Tennessee, Wake Forest and Mississippi State. Most notably, the Egg Bowl was moved off Thanksgiving and to Black Friday (November 29). Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC. The in-state rivals have played on Friday just five times in history. The last was 2008. Ole Miss, last season, hosted ULM the Saturday before the Egg Bowl. The R...

Ole Miss football on Tuesday held one of its final practices of the spring. The Rebels wrap with the rebranded ‘Grove Bowl Games’ on Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m. CT. Events include hot-dog-eating and dunk contests, as well as a team-wide 7-on-7 and more. “I think if you think outside of the box and traditional way of doing things, which I think it’s well-known we do, over time the spring game isn’t much value,” fifth-year Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said. The Rebels last season won a program-record 11 games. “If you watch people and what they do, unless a coach is on the hot seat and wants...
