The Oregon Ducks officially received word back from their appeal of the NCAA’s denial of additional eligibility for center N’Faly Dante. According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, the NCAA has denied the university’s petition for additional eligibility. This is the second time that the college sports governing body has denied Dante a waiver to continue his collegiate career. The initial ‘no’ was on behalf of the Oregon center himself. The second one, on Thursday, June 13, was courtesy of the university’s petition for additional eligibility. When the NCAA denied the first appeal, se...

The New Orleans Saints will be without starting tight end Juwan Johnson for a “while” after undergoing foot surgery next week, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. Though the former wide receiver will miss time in training camp and in the preseason, per Schefter’s sources, he could be ready to go by the time the regular season hits. The Saints open the 2024 regular season with a home game against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 8. Johnson signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He played in 16 games for the Saints last year and recorded 37 catches for 368 yards and four to...

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and his staff continue to prove that they can dip into any state in the country and bring top talent back with them to Eugene. Of the nine commits in the Ducks’ 2025 class, six states are represented. Two of the top pledges hail from Florida in Tampa Bay Tech five-star Dallas Wilson and Tampa Sumner four-star offensive tackle Ziyare Addison. That potential Sunshine State to Oregon pipeline could prove beneficial for the Ducks later on this fall, as the program is in the thick of things for Zephyrhills (Fla.) Five-Star Plus+ cornerback DJ Pickett, the No. 6 overall...

Enter the Oregon quarterback room and you’ll find what has been dubbed the “sensitivity board” by offensive coordinator Will Stein. The board has cutout photos of each QB, as well as the coaches, that get put up whenever their teammates feel they’ve been a little too sensitive in practice. Stein explained on the Andy Staples On3 podcast that photos remain up for a full 24 hours before they can be taken down. The coach’s own picture pokes fun at himself for a viral photo that was taken of him when he played quarterback at Louisville. “If you’re sensitive in any way, we have pictures of everybod...

Oregon Ducks offensive coordinator Will Stein joined Andy Staples On3 on YouTube to reminisce on one of his funnier memories from his playing days. Before he got into coaching, Stein was a quarterback for the University of Louisville. After a victory, a photo was snapped of Stein with a giant smile and a thumbs up, and it was eventually dubbed Sunny Will Stein within the vernacular of Cardinals faithful. Speaking with Staples, Stein took some time to explain how that photo came to be, and why it’s lived on in the decade-plus since he’s last played for the Cardinals. “I’ll tell you what, my mom...

For the most part, Dillon Gabriel has been in one offensive scheme his entire college career. Jeff Lebby ran a form of Art Briles‘ offense at UCF and even after leaving the program, it stayed similar. And then once leaving Orlando for Norman, Lebby was there at Oklahoma to run it back with Gabriel. Now at Oregon, offensive coordinator Will Stein has a ton of respect for what Lebby has done with Gabriel. The stats show UCF and Oklahoma had some of the best offenses in college football when the duo worked together. “A ton of respect for Jeff Lebby,” Stein said during Thursday’s episode of Andy S...

Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein is one of the well-esteemed young coaches in college football fresh off of an impressive 2023 season where he helped lead one of the most high-powered offenses in the country. Prior to his time in Eugene, Stein was with UTSA where he helped left-handed quarterback Frank Harris become the Conference USA Most Valuable Player in 2022. And this upcoming season he inherits another southpaw under center, with Dillon Gabriel joining the Ducks this offseason through the transfer portal. Stein recently joined Andy Staples On3, and was asked about his recent speci...

Oregon is one of a handful of teams that will be in a new conference for the 2024-25 academic year, as the Ducks are Big Ten bound. And it’s a move that isn’t being taken on lightly by the football staff, according to offensive coordinator Will Stein. Speaking with On3’s Andy Staples, Stein explained some of his perspective on the league and how Oregon will need to maneuver to handle the transition. On the whole, though, Stein is confident Oregon is positioned to compete and succeed in the Big Ten. “I think we’ve built a roster that’s going to be able to really play extremely competitive and p...

Will Stein is now in his second season as the offensive coordinator of the Oregon Ducks. In both 2023 and 2024, he’ll have had very experienced quarterbacks running his offense in Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel. While making an appearance on Andy Staples On3, Stein broke down and detailed the value of working with an experienced quarterback. “I think just the conversations on a day-to-day basis are upper level,” Will Stein said. “It’s like teaching a grad student basic level algebra. The conversations are well thought out. They usually come very prepared to work. When you think about Bo, on a daily...

Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein has been one of the fastest risers in the sport, reaching an FBS perch at a College Football Playoff contender in a little more than a decade in coaching. Stein has gone through an interesting journey to get to where he is now, one that includes getting passed up by Teddy Bridgewater on the Louisville depth chart. But there were lessons in that, he shared with On3’s Andy Staples. All of it led to his entry into coaching. Stein sort of played a coaching role even while he remained a player, helping Bridgewater get up to speed quickly in a career that woul...
