Children of the Band’s late Robbie Robertson, a long-time collaborator with Martin Scorcese and Bob Dylan, are claiming elder abuse in a new legal action against his widow. Robertson died last year, just months after a private marriage to Janet Zuccarini. His three adult children — Alexandra, Delphine and Sebastian Robertson — filed suit against the Toronto restaurateur in Los Angeles Superior Court. “This lawsuit is a meritless fiction and the truth will prevail,” said Zuccarini attorney Gabrielle Vidal, told the Los Angeles Times. “This is a gross and exploitative attempt by Robbie Robertson...

The Beach Boys’ story goes back more than 60 years, with nearly 30 albums, dozens of hit singles, and enough ups and downs and family drama to fill several movies. But the documentary The Beach Boys (streaming on Disney+) packs it all into a compact 113 minutes, skimming the surface of the group’s many chapters while never lingering long enough in any one area to give the casual fan much indication as to why they are one of pop music’s most important bands. Not long into the film, co-founder Mike Love says, “We’ve been counted out as a group a half-dozen times.” That’s true, but The Beach Boys...

The classic lineup of Jane’s Addiction played their first show together in over 14 years when they played at a 450-capacity club in London, U.K. Thursday night. It marked Dave Navarro’s return after being sidelined with long COVID in recent years – but there was no absence of energy as he appeared at the Bush Hall alongside Perry Farrell, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins. “Who’s that – Dave Navarro?” frontman Farrell asked jokingly at one point, while the guitarist joined his hands and mouthed “Thank you” to the audience, and Perkins leaned out to bump fists. Paul McCartney took great joy in roasting his friend Bruce Springsteen at an awards ceremony in London Thursday night. He told the audience that he “couldn’t think of a more fitting” winner, before adding: “Except maybe Bob Dylan. Or Paul Simon, or Billy Joel, or Beyonce, or Taylor Swift. The list goes on!” READ MORE: Paul McCartney’s Most Embarrassing Early Mome...

Skid Row guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo has dismissed rumors the band will reunite with classic-era singer Sebastian Bach. “It’s not gonna happen,” Sabo flatly declared during an appearance on The Hook Rocks podcast. “And I say the same thing every time. I’m thankful that people have such an interest in wanting to see that happen, but I also have to reiterate that this is about being happy in the situation that you’re in.” Sabo went on to explain that the decision was unanimous among Skid Row’s current members, and rejected suggestions that bassist Rachel Bolan was holding up a potential reunion....

Steven Van Zandt has a pessimistic outlook when he ponders the future of classic rock. During an appearance on Club Random with Bill Maher, the E Street Band guitarist examined the way music consumption has changed. “Right now, because the record industry is dead, there’s no more record sales other than Taylor Swift and Beyonce,” Van Zandt declared. Instead, he explained, films and television shows have become the best way for recording artists to make money. However, even that has become problematic because musicians have upped their licensing fees in order to survive. “You got a bunch of wha...

When Van Halen finished playing a free concert to an estimated 80,000 fans at Dallas’ West End Marketplace on Dec. 4, 1991, all four band members likely breathed a collective sigh of relief, as they had finally fulfilled a promise that frontman Sammy Hagar had made to the city three years earlier. But at what cost? “It almost broke the band up,” Hagar reflected in 2023. “It cost us about $200,000 to come back and do a free show.” Van Halen’s Dallas bargain originated in 1988, when they barreled through the Lone Star State in support of OU812 on the Monsters of Rock Tour, a mammoth road trip fe...
