Dodge is in for a busy year. Not only will the brand be focusing on the launch and fulfillment of its several limited-edition “Last Call” Charger and Challenger muscle cars, but it will also introduce a new product: a much-needed SUV. We’ve covered the 2023 Dodge Hornet quite a bit here already at MC&T, and as the Alfa-Romeo-based product readies itself for the US market, more details are trickling out. This week, full pricing details have finally been released for the plug-in hybrid 2023 Hornet R/T and it will have a starting price just under $40,000.

The MSRP for a base 2023 Dodge Hornet R/T PHEV eAWD will carry a starting price of $39,995 and just under $45,000 ($44,995) for the R/T PHEV Plus eAWD not including destination charges of $1,595 ($1,645 for Hawaii). The main difference between the two are package and group options. The Plus trim comes with a “tech-pack” as well as the option for full red leather seats. Both trims can be fitted with an optional track package and a blacktop package as well.
Powering the Hornet R/T is a 1.3L turbocharged engine paired with a 90 kW motor for the rear axle. The Hornet can produce over 285 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and offers up to 30-miles of full electric range. The Hornet also comes armed with a new “powershot” mode that gives overall horsepower a boost when in use as well as a few different hybrid modes the driver can select from including; hybrid, full-electric, and “e-save” modes.
Earlier this year, the Dodge Hornet’s build and price tool went live but it was missing the R/T trim. At the time of this writing, only the GT and GT Plus trims are still offered as customizable options, but will likely change in the coming weeks as production is expected to start sooner than later.
