S650 FORD MUSTANG SUPERCARS DEBUT FOR 2023 RACING SEASON

The first S650 Ford Mustang supercar debuted a few months ago, giving us some insight into what we could expect for the Gen3 V8 racing season. While its been a few months without significant news regarding the upcoming Mustang supercars competing for the 2023 racing season, that has just changed as a few teams have unveiled their cars.

S650 Ford Mustang Supercar Livery: Details

Supercars Championship covered two of the S650 Ford Mustang supercar debuts, starting with the Walkinshaw-Andretti United team joining the Blue Oval for 2023 with its first-ever Ford Supercar. WAU’s team raced Commodores between 1990 and 2022 and was the factory Holden squad for nearly 30 years. Though last year, it was confirmed that the team would be switching to Ford. The first WAU Mustang revealed was the #1 NTI Racing entry of Nick Percat, who has only raced Commodores in Supercars. The 2011 Bathurst winner’s car features the white and silver NTI, complete on a white scheme. GT stripes also run down the center of the vehicle.

On the other hand, Tickford Racing unveiled its second Gen3 Ford – Thomas Randle’s #55 Castrol Racing Mustang – of 2023. The 2020 Super2 champion Randle will carry Castrol green again this season, and the S650 Ford Mustang Supercar will do the same with more green than its predecessor. The new #55 Mustang will make its track debut at Winton Motor Raceway on Monday after Cam Waters shook down his #6 Ford at the Benalla circuit last Wednesday.

Finally Dick Johnson Racing would take familiar colors into the Gen3 era of the Repco Supercars Championship with its 2023 livery on its first Gen3 Mustang race car ahead of a shakedown at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday. The livery is essentially the same as that campaigned by DJR since its primary sponsorship from Shell V-Power began in 2017.

With over 600 horsepower under the hood of the Supercar S650 Ford Mustang due to significant modifications added to the production-based Coyote V8, this will surely be a racing season we won’t want to miss.
