Huskers Blast Past Jaguars for Series Sweep

Nebraska went from winless to .500 in the second weekend of play

Hitting hasn't been an issue for Nebraska baseball so far this season, and Sunday was no exception.

The Huskers blasted four home runs to hammer South Alabama 9-3 in the series finale. The victory gave Big Red the series sweep and improved the season record to 3-3-1.

Nebraska scored at least one run in each of the first five innings, which was already enough to put the game away. Solo homers by Josh Caron and Charlie Fischer in the ninth inning were the icing on the cake to seal the deal.

Caleb Clark went just 3.0 innings in the start, giving up seven hits while allowing three earned runs. Michael Garza came in and finished the final 6.0 innings, allowing no runs on one hit as he struck out three.

Caron had a big day at the plate, notching two home runs and five RBIs on a 3-for-4 effort. Besides Fischer, the other homer came from Garrett Anglim.

As a team, Nebraska ran up 13 hits in the series finale.

Nebraska heads to Minneapolis next weekend for three games in the Cambria College Classic. The Huskers will play perennial powerhouse Vanderbilt on Friday, Hawaii on Saturday, and defending College World Series champion Ole Miss on Sunday.
