Camper living or “van life” has become popular over the past few years. While those that don’t outright live out of a van may convert the bed of their trucks or SUVs, others may take on a different approach, converting smaller vehicles into a motorhome, though it may be cramped. One such person decided to turn his Chevrolet Camaro into a camper, which he now lives out of full-time.
Chevrolet Camaro Camper: Details
As the video shows, the Chevrolet Camaro owner originally lived out of a Sprinter van, then moved to an SUV-converted camper before downsizing to a Camaro. However, it’s still better than a Volkswagen Beetle. The Chevy Camaro owner fit quite a bit into the muscle car, including a fully functional kitchen, a rechargeable water faucet, an electric ceramic cooker, and additional storage for cleaning products. The camper coupe also features child-proof safety locks and drawers filled with utensils, disposable plates, and cooking pots. So, pretty luxurious considering, though there are some downsides to living out of a coupe.
The Chevrolet Camaro motorhome build doesn’t feature a refrigerator, so the owner has to compensate by cooking easy meals such as canned soup or ramen noodles. However, he can always stop at a grocery store to get some fresh meat and cook it the same day if he wants something more hearty.
As for the living area, the interior of the Chevrolet Camaro camper conversion has been customized with rechargeable magnetic LED bars for lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled clock that can also act as a speaker. In addition, the seat doubles as a living room and features a secret compartment for extra storage. As for the bed, it measures 6 feet long and 30 inches wide, providing plenty of room for the owner’s 6 ft height, though a bit cramped. The bed comprises a thin, two-inch mattress covered with a one-inch mattress topper made of a three-quarter-inch Maple plywood.
Of course, in this day and age, electricity is essential, and this Chevy Camper features solar power that provides 1,000 watts of electricity. The system uses rechargeable batteries, which are charged by solar panels mounted on the car’s roof. Overall, it may be cramped, but living out of a Chevrolet Camaro is possible.
