Creighton walks off Nebraska

The Bluejays have topped Nebraska in four straights matchups

The pitching wasn't great, then it was phenomenal, then it ran out of steam.

Creighton plated three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night to top Nebraska 6-5 at Charles Schwab Field. The victory gives the Bluejays four consecutive and eight of the last 10 over the Huskers.

Johnson Brockett gave up three runs in his one inning of work, forcing coach Will Bolt to go to the bullpen early. Corbin Hawkins then dealt 1.1 scoreless innings before Will Walsh took the hill.

Walsh tossed a career high 6.0 innings. He retired 17 of the first 18 batters he faced.

Over those six innings, the Husker offense put together a four-run third inning and tacked on another in the seventh.

But Bolt elected to have Walsh go back out in the final frame with a 5-3 lead.

Creighton promptly put a runner on second with a single and a sacrifice bunt. An RBI single closed the gap to 5-4.

Walsh then hit a batter who advanced to second on a passed ball. That brought Brett Sears into the game to give up a sacrifice fly before a wild pitch brought home the winning run.

Max Anderson posted a 3-for-5 day at the plate. Josh Caron and Charlie Fischer notched two RBI each.

Nebraska (11-7-1) begins Big Ten Conference play this weekend, hosting Illinois.
