The day has come. What Muscle Cars & Trucks originally reported on in 2019, sending the internet in a whirlwind of emotion, is now official from General Motors. Production of the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro will end after the 2024 model year. Commemorating the life of the Camaro Six will be a final Collector’s Edition package for the 2024 Camaro. The package will be available on the 2024 Camaro RS and SS, and on a limited number of Camaro ZL1 muscle cars exclusively in North America.
More information on the 2024 Camaro line and Collector’s Edition package will be available closer to the start of orders this summer. The major clue of the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro Collector’s Edition an homage to the development of the first-generation Camaro in the 1960s, most notably the program’s initial code name: Panther.

“As we prepare to say goodbye to the current generation Camaro, it is difficult to overstate our gratitude to every Camaro customer, Camaro assembly line employee and race fan,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Global Chevrolet. “While we are not announcing an immediate successor today, rest assured, this is not the end of Camaro’s story.”
They said similar things in 2002, when the fourth-gen Camaro bowed out. It wasn’t until 2010 that the fifth-generation Camaro emerged as a production car. The news also comes just days after Dodge debuted their V8 muscle car finale: the 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170. More than just a collector’s package, the Demon 170 is a street-legal, 1,025 horsepower machine that does 0-60 in 1.66 seconds, and the quarter mile in 8.91 seconds.
Ford, however, found it possible to carry on with the iconic Mustang, introducing a seventh-generation model for the 2024 model year. Coyote V8 engine and all.
Market share and sales of the sixth Chevrolet Camaro seemed to lose where the Dodge Charger and Challenger gained over the past few years, based on our muscle car sales report. Eventually, the much more expensive and premium C8 Corvette started outselling the Chevrolet Camaro.
Coinciding with the hiatus of the Chevrolet Camaro after the 2024 model year is perhaps the most entertaining and fun motorsports announcement of the year: the Garage 56 Camaro. Based off of a NASCAR Cup car, the Garage 56 Camaro seeks to win the hearts (and maybe a podium) of a sold out crowd at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, saluting a Chevrolet icon as the modern muscle car era draws to a close.
