2024 FORD MUSTANG PRODUCTION: UPDATES TO THE SCHEDULE

The order banks for the 2024 Ford Mustang opened a few months ago. With it, many have been eagerly anticipating the start of production, which will signal the imminent arrival of their next-generation pony car. A recent post to the Mustang7g forum reveals some updates to the schedule, which should give people insight into what to expect from the timeline for the S650 Mustang.

2024 Ford Mustang Schedule: Details

This week, Ford has scheduled a clean-up, which is essentially low-volume production. Ford has included some additional notes for this stage of production, which include:

  • Stop building in place on Dark Horse
  • No Black Painted Roof or Convertible
  • No 100A
  • All 101A and above must select a package or trim level that includes the wrapped leather center console (Performance Pkg, or formed with 201A/401A)
  • Do not remove 2.3L Performance Pkg. from 101A on orders selected in CVW. If removed, it will become unbuildable due to a quality issue.

Following that, Job 1 will start on June 5 and continue until June 26. Scheduling for production will also be in June, though it’s not clear what specific dates we can expect there. The Balance Out Date and Last Day to Spec Change/ Cancel will be announced later. The final order due date for state, local, and non-GSA Federal government will be June 30, with the final order due date for commercial vehicles to be decided.

All of this comes down to the expectation that most people won’t receive their orders anytime soon; this can be attributed to supply chain issues that constrain the production process. Of course, some people may start receiving their orders in June and July, but it’s probably best to expect the arrival of your 2024 Ford Mustang sometime in August; best not to get your hopes up too much with a quick arrival with the current state of things, but we’re bound to start seeing these beautiful muscle cars on the road this summer/fall.
