TikTok is adding another string to its bow. The Chinese social network has unveiled a new way to earn money on the application by creating effects. Here's how it works.

In addition to being a content creator, you can now become an effects creator on TikTok. Effects like the "Bold Glamour" filter can quickly go viral on the social platform -- a boon for creators who could now make money from their viral hits.

TikTok recently unveiled the Effect Creator Rewards scheme, a new $6 million fund that rewards creators of effects on the app's Effect House platform. But to get the money, creators will have to meet some big goals. First, the effect created will have to be used in 500,000 unique videos within 90 days of its release. If that goal is reached, the creator will be able to earn $700. This amount will increase by another $140 for every 100,000 new videos that use the effect within the same 90 days.

The goal for TikTok is to boost engagement on the platform as well as the creation of content. All of which is a good way to keep the TikTok community loyal and satisfied.

However, like the creator fund, the effects fund will only be available to certain users. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, and live in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy or Spain. The rules are also the same: you must have at least 10,000 followers, have a minimum of 100,000 views in the last 30 days, and have made high-quality, original videos that are longer than one minute.
