浅草で道を尋ねる時、道案内をする時の英会話例を見てみましょう。

A：すみません、浅草寺はこの近くでしょうか？
A: Excuse me, is Sensoji temple near here?
B：ええ、あの信号を右に曲がると、浅草寺の大きな門――雷門が見えますよ。
B: Yes. Turn right at that traffic light, and you’ll see the big gate of Sensoji—Kaminari-mon.A：その門というのは、大きな赤いちょうちんがあるところですか？
A: Is the gate the place with the large red lantern? / Is that the gate with the big [huge] red lantern?
B：そうです。それで門をくぐると、長い歩道に沿ってお寺まで歩いて行けますよ。
B: That’s right. And after you pass through the gate, you can walk down the long pedestrian street to the temple.
A：聞くところによると、その道沿いにたくさん土産物店があるそうですね。
A: I heard there are a lot of souvenir shops along that street.
B：ええ。土産物屋さんだけでなく、屋台や日本の食べ物を売る店もたくさんあります。
