General Motors Design has some cool concepts that it’s kind enough to share on Instagram. We’ve seen concepts for potential future vehicles, prototypes, or just fun sketches by the artists that work for the division of the car manufacturing giant. We recently looked at a concept by Brian Malczewksi that toyed with the idea of a modern Chevrolet El Camino, and it was pretty cool, drawing inspiration from the current generation Camaro and Corvette. Now, we have another piece from the artist, which looks like a futuristic Chevrolet Camaro.
Does This Futuristic Chevrolet Concept Preview A New Camaro?
The car in the Instagram post features a widened body with a massive hood and short rear end which indicates that the engine placement is in the front, along with massive black wheels, giving big future Chevrolet Camaro vibes. A sportier front end draws the viewer’s attention with built-in splitters to improve aerodynamics. The Chevrolet bowtie is illuminated along with diamond-shaped daytime running lights, which look neat, though functionality seems lost. Not that it matters since this is only a design sketch.
At the door, the bottom part of the fender swoops up and connects to the rear fender while the upper part caves in to support aerodynamics. It’s a neat concept and stands out with the cherry red paint job. Unfortunately, we might never see something like this reach the market, as the Camaro will die out after the 2024 model year. Sure, there’s potential for the car to re-enter production, as was the case for the iconic muscle car after it left the stage in 2002. There was a significant gap between then and its reintroduction for the 2009 model year.
Something like this could happen again, though we’ll try not to get our hopes up too high as it’s clear that the V8 engine won’t be part of the picture. As the years go on, General Motors will continue its push towards electrification, which means future products will be electrified, including the Corvette. So, if we get anything for the Camaro in the future, it stands to reason that it will be an EV.
