A little over a month ago, Tesla finished building its first production-ready Cybertruck. After two years of waiting, the stainless steel electric pickup is finally entering the market to compete with other electric trucks. However, it’s hard to say how this truck will compare with the competition when, by now, Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Rivian, and Ram all have some pretty spectacular creations either on the market or on the way. The world is watching with bated breath for when the first trucks will start to arrive to customers to see if the Cybertruck will be a success or a total flop.
Several Tesla Cybertrucks have left Gigafactory Texas in flocks over the past week or so, with videos emerging across social media of the trucks shipping out. But as there’s no official pricing for Tesla’s electric pickup, it’s hard to imagine customers are taking deliveries yet. So where are the trucks going? Well, that answer is quite simple. According to TeslaRati, the company has recently updated its referral program to enable customers to get tickets for an upcoming Cybertruck delivery event in Austin, Texas.
Tesla’s description for the referral award states that using 30,000 referral credits would provide users with an invite to Cybertruck’s upcoming delivery event in Austin, Texas. Those who redeem the reward can also bring one guest to the event. But, be aware that the invites are first come, first serve, so if you don’t hop onto obtaining a ticket now, it might be too late. That said, if you miss your chance to claim a ticket, additional tickets will be released as the event approaches. There isn’t an exact date for the event, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stated that vehicle specs, pricing, and delivery dates will be announced when Tesla is ready.
That said, estimates place the range of the Cybertruck at around 350 miles, which is about 100 miles shy of the estimate for the Chevrolet Silverado EV, which is believed to be about 450 miles. That said, it is just ahead of the F-150 Lightning, which has 320 miles of range. That means that the triangular truck will fall short of the 620-mile range touted back when it first debuted in 2019. As for pricing, In 2019, the Cybertruck was set to start at $39,900 for the base RWD variant and $49,900 for the dual motor AWD trim. In 2021, Tesla removed all pricing and specifications from its website, so things are a big mystery now. It’s safe to say the price won’t be $39,900 amid inflation, cost of production, and other factors that weren’t at play when the truck was first introduced to the world. Hopefully, this information will be unveiled at the event so the world will no longer be shrouded in a veil of mystery.
