The 2023 SEMA Show is imminent. Happening from October 31-November 3, the biggest automotive aftermarket trade show in the world will take place at Las Vegas Convention Center, just ahead of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. It’s bound to be a wild month for automotive and motorsports fans in Sin City, and we’re once again looking to Mopar to stir up some excitement ahead of the SEMA Show. This week the accessories and aftersales brand teased two concepts so far, with likely a few more to come. The first is a Ram 2500 Power Wagon with an adventurous livery, and the second is a classic 1969 Dodge Charger teasing something ominously blue under its perfectly sculpted hood.
It’s hard to tell exactly what this Moparized Dodge Charger is teasing, but we’re on track to soon know more about what Dodge plans to do with its electrified intentions. Last year, Dodge teased several power levels of the upcoming all-electric muscle car, presumed to also be called Charger, as well as cryptic features such as tuning “crystals,” that will be used to activate certain upgrades for this upcoming EV. This Mopar muscle SEMA concept could perhaps foreshadow some sort of electric “crate motor” in the works from Dodge Direct Connection, similar to what Ford and Chevrolet have also previewed, but have yet to really scale. Because while the motors are powerful, space efficient and use minimal parts, you still have to figure out where to put the batteries… which are not space efficient, power dense, or low tech.
As for the Ram Power Wagon Mopar SEMA concept, there’s sure to be a few surprises lurking in that truck bed, and could perhaps preview a few things for the next-generation Ram 1500 and Ram HD, which we should start to see soon.
