Wheels Up: President Biden's Wednesday Visit To Colorado's CS Wind

President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit CS Wind in Pueblo, Colorado, today, marking a significant visit to the largest wind tower manufacturer globally. During his visit, the President is expected to address Bidenomics and discuss job creation in Colorado’s third congressional district.

The Department of the Treasury has released a new analysis, coinciding with the presidential visit, revealing that clean energy investments, catalyzed by the Inflation Reduction Act, are primarily benefitting underserved communities and energy-focused regions.

Projects in Underserved Colorado Communities

CS Wind America, Pueblo County:

CS Wind revealed plans in April 2023 for a substantial expansion of its wind turbine tower manufacturing facility, already the world’s largest. The 900,000-square-foot expansion is poised to bring on board approximately 850 new employees, propelling the facility’s annual production of wind turbine tower sections to an impressive 10,000.

VSK Energy, Adams County:

June 2023 saw VSK Energy unveil a noteworthy $250 million investment for the establishment of a solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing facility in Brighton, Colorado. The anticipated outcome includes the creation of over 900 jobs, with the factory expected to commence operations in 2024 boasting a capacity of 2 Gigawatts (GW) in modules. Further expansion plans are in the pipeline, aiming for up to 4 GW.

Amprius Technologies, Adams County:

March 2023 witnessed Amprius Technologies making waves with a substantial $189 million investment earmarked for the development of a silicon anode lithium-ion battery factory in Brighton, Colorado. The project is set to generate 300 new jobs, and the factory’s phased construction, starting with a 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) capacity, is slated for completion in 2025. With the potential for expansion up to an impressive 5 gigawatt-hours (GWh), this initiative underscores the state’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
