Production for the Ford GT stretched into March of 2023, as its builder, Multimatic, worked to fulfill every order for the epic supercar. In its place Multimatic will build the $300,0000 Ford Mustang GTD, as well as off-road racers like the Coyote-powered Ford Bronco DR. With production of the Ford GT behind us, we can see that 31 Ford GT supercars were sold last year.
What a run its been, with several special appearance packages, a couple of track-only specials, and even a high-profile lawsuit or two.

Ford originally intended to build just 1,000 GTs through the four years of production in collaboration with racing firm Multimatic. However, thanks to the high demand for the supercar, the company added 350 units to the production run in 2018. Ford decided to extend production into 2023, though there’s no apparent reason why the company made this decision. According to Motor1, it’s possible that supply chain constraints due to the pandemic had something to do with it, as Covid snared the entire automotive industry with massive disruptions that continue to ripple through to this day.
Ford sent off GT production with the LM Edition, which was revealed in October 2022. All LM Edition GTs featured a Liquid Silver paint job with either red or blue accents. All 20 examples also included a piece of the Ford GT race car that finished third in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. That particular car was initially meant to be a Mustang. Still, we’re glad it wasn’t, as it brought about a couple more years for the legendary GT to be on the market, and even if the cheaper C8 Corvette Z06 can keep up with it, it’s still a fantastic car to look at.
Ford has declined to share any photos or details regarding the final production GT, but Shmee150 on YouTube believes that the last GT ever produced is chassis N260-J211, painted in Antimatter Blue and paired with graphite wheels and red brake calipers. If this theory is to be believed, the car resides with a private collector somewhere in Detroit, Michigan. For all we know, it could be Bill Ford Jr. or Jim Farley themselves.
We want to take a moment to bid the legendary Ford GT farewell. It will always have a place in automotive history, and it will always have free real estate in the minds of car enthusiasts.
