Baseball: JTB to sell tour packages for Ohtani's Dodgers debut series

Japanese travel agency JTB Corp. said Friday it will offer tour packages for the March 20-21 MLB season-opening Seoul Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.

The announcement came as JTB and Major League Baseball agreed to a new multi-year international partnership. The two-game series in South Korea is set to mark Shohei Ohtani's regular-season debut with the Dodgers.

Japanese compatriot Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who also signed a lucrative deal with the Dodgers this offseason, might pitch in the series.

The tour packages are expected to be available in February, according to JTB, which will also be a sponsor of the June 8-9 series in London between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.

Earlier this month, Yonhap News Agency said tickets will go on sale in South Korea on Jan. 26 for the country's first MLB regular-season games while saying streaming service Coupang Play does not plan to open up a separate ticketing channel for non-Korean speaking fans.

The series at Gocheok Sky Dome is also expected to feature Gold Glove-winning Korean infielder Kim Ha Seong, and Japanese pitchers Yu Darvish and Yuki Matsui, who are all with the Padres.

The stadium has a capacity of about 16,000 spectators for baseball games.
