Biden Speaks With Families Of Soldiers Lost In Tragic Drone Attack

Biden spoke with the families of the three US soldiers killed in an aerial drone attack in North East Jordan on Sunday. According to John Kirby, “He was grateful for their time.” Kirby added that the President expressed to them how “proud we all are of their service.”

Biden conveyed his condolences, stating, “we mourn” and “feel sorrow over their loss.” Kirby emphasized that Biden assured the families “that not only was that service and sacrifice going to be honored and respected but that they would continue to get the support that they need as they work through what no family wants to have to go through.”

Addressing the sobering reality faced by military families and the inherent risks of their missions, Kirby remarked, “As I said, no Blue Star family wants to become a Gold Star family.”

On Monday, the Pentagon identified the soldiers assigned to Georgia’s Fort Moore as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Ga.; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Ga.; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Ga.

Kirby confirmed that the President will attend the dignified transfer on Friday. “All of them supported his presence there, and so the president will be going to the dignified transfer on Friday,” Kirby affirmed.
