'Not convinced': National media underwhelmed by 23-year-old Nottingham Forest loanee

Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo is struggling out on loan with Standard Liege – with the national media yet to be convinced by him.

These comments come from the Belgian outlet DH.

So, what has been said about Forest defender Panzo during his time on loan with Liege? Let’s take a closer look…

Jonathan Panzo struggling after leaving Nottingham Forest on loan

The 23-year-old is facing a struggle to prove himself right now, having also struggled with Cardiff City during the first half of the campaign.

Panzo was allowed to join Standard Liege from Forest and so far he’s made three appearances – all from the substitutes bench.

Now,DH has delivered some scratching comments about the player and they aren’t convinced by his qualities.

They claim that he’s ‘not connected to the team yet’ and has ‘seemed lost’ – particularly in the game against OH Leuven.

In more worrying news, it’s also claimed in the Belgian media that he’s already cost his team a goal and the question is asked over whether he is a ‘true reinforcement.

Forest success has hampered defender

Panzo was signed by Forest in January 2022 at a time when promotion to the Premier League looked some way off for the Reds.

He was a member of the England under-17 squad that won the World Cup in 2017 and Steve Cooper took a chance on him.

However, he made just one appearance for the Reds – on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign – and hasn’t managed another outing.

Panzo helped Coventry City reach the play-off final last season but they chose not to re-sign him for the current campaign.

Ultimately, with Forest in the Premier League, Panzo was always going to struggle to get himself minutes on the pitch.

Had the Reds not been promoted during the 2021/22 campaign, perhaps he would have been given a chance last season in the Championship.

Panzo is now facing a fight to prove himself and perhaps moving from Forest to Standard Liege isn’t going to quite work out for the player.
