Mia Khalifa says she is heading to North Korea 'to learn'

Mia Khalifa, a Lebanese-American former adult film actress turned activist, has claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that she is heading to North Korea.

"On my way to North Korea to learn and see with my own eyes", she posted on X early on February 21, without providing any details or whether she was serious or just being attention seeking.

Khalifa, who garners millions of followers on her social media platforms, has gained attention in recent years after she waded into politics and social issues.

She has also been expressing strong views in support of the Palestinian people during Israel's war on Gaza, earning her the ire of supporters of the Jewish state and its genocidal actions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

An Israeli drill song 'Harbu Darbu' that appears to include calls for the deaths of famous Arab and Muslim heritage women Mia Khalifa, Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa has landed at the top of the charts in Israel.

The song, naming Albanian-British singer Dua Lipa, Lebanese-American social media influencer and former adult film actress Mia Khalifa, as well as Palestinian-American supermodel Bella Hadid, means 'Raining hell on enemies'.

It goes on to call out the women along with the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah.

"Nasrallah. Mohammed Deif. Haniyeh. Abu Baklawa. Bella Hadid. Dua Lipa. Mia Khalifa ... Every dog will get what’s coming to them."

"All the units in the IDF are in mode to thrust war and pain into your head," they rap.

In October, US adult entertainment enterprise Playboy announced it had cut ties with Mia Khalifa for statements she made after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel.

"Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine to flip their phones and film horizontally," she said on X as footage of the operation and its aftermath was being shared widely on social media.

Khalifa, who is Lebanese-American, has spoken out against past Israeli bombing offensives on the Gaza Strip.

She has also criticised the US for its financial backing of the Israeli military.

While The New Arab could not confirm the seriousness of her claim about a visit to North Korea, American celebrities have in the past flown to the communist nation and adversary of the United States, such as former NBA star Dennis Rodman.

In recent weeks, another adult film star, Whitney Wright, made global headlines with a visit to Iran and the Middle East, where she also expressed solidarity with Gaza.
