N.J. man charged in fatal shooting at hookah lounge to remain jailed

A state Superior Court judge has ordered an Asbury Park man charged in a fatal shooting at a hookah lounge to remain jailed until trial, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Eric Manzanares, 24, was ordered to be held in the Ocean County Jail at a hearing Thursday before state Superior Court Judge Wendel Daniels, according to a news release. Manzanares is accused of killing Nymere Tinsley, 25, of Brick Township, at Top Tier Hookah Lounge in Toms River in August 2022.

Manzanares was arrested in April 2023 in Prince William County, Virginia, and extradited to New Jersey in January. In addition to the murder charge, Manzanares also faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons-related offenses.

Tinsley was one of three people shot at the lounge and was pronounced dead at the scene. An Asbury Park man and a Neptune Township man were also shot, police said. They were treated at Jersey Shore Medical Center and released.
