Report: Newcastle United want to sign boyhood Magpies fan this summer, Leeds United sold him for just £1.2m

Newcastle United are now interested in signing Ipswich Town left back Leif Davis.

The Magpies are into the next round of the FA Cup but the victory over Blackburn Rovers was rather unconvincing.

Newcastle needed penalties to get through after conceding a late equaliser, drawing the game 1-1.

The eventual victory at least gives a slightly more positive feeling around the club than after Saturday’s thrashing at Arsenal.

Eddie Howe is still under pressure but may be eyeing summer signings, including a new left back.

Newcastle United want Leif Davis

Lewis Hall is on loan from Chelsea but confusion surrounds the possibility of him staying on a permanent deal.

If Hall isn’t going to be the left back of the future for Newcastle then the Magpies may dip back into the market – and Ipswich Town’s Leif Davis is on the radar.

TalkSPORT claim that Newcastle have joined West Ham United in keeping tabs on Davis.

It’s noted that Ipswich paid just £1.2million to sign Davis from Leeds United in 2022, and they could surely command huge profit now.

Davis has become known as one of the very best attacking left backs outside of the Premier League, racking up a ridiculous 28 assists in 78 appearances for Ipswich.

The 24-year-old may well be interested in the move too, given that he was actually born in Newcastle.

Davis started his career in the famed Wallsend Boys Club, the former club of Alan Shearer among others.

Newcastle didn’t move for Davis as at a young age as he instead moved on to Morecambe, but the Magpies are now seeing him become an outstanding left back.

A Newcastle season-ticket holder as a kid, it would be very difficult for Davis to say no if Howe and co come calling this summer.
