Woman accuses Zakarpattya Oblast TRC of kidnapping and assault — military enlistment office reacted

The man was mobilized by force

The woman learned about her ex-husband's kidnapping in January when he informed her during a phone conversation. On Jan. 20 in the city of Khust, Zakarpattya Oblast, TRC representatives "apprehended him in a car," the man said.

A month later, the man contacted his ex-wife, revealing that he was in one of the training centers in Lviv Oblast and was not feeling well. The military ID and certificate were allegedly taken from him at the military enlistment office, and he did not undergo a military medical commission (MMC). The fitness for service conclusion was allegedly prepared in advance.

The woman claims that her ex-husband was held in the basement and subjected to beatings. Due to partial paralysis resulting from encephalitis, he was unable to resist.

She reported the incident to law enforcement officers and Dmytro Lubinets, the Ombudsman of the Ukrainian Parliament for Human Rights. However, she claims to have received no response.

An additional MMC will be conducted for the man, said Yulia Shevchenko, a spokeswoman for the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Western Region, in a comment to Suspilne.

The Khust District Recruitment Center and Social Support responded to the woman's accusations in a comment to Hromadske news outlet. They raised concerns about the information presented in the media, questioning the credibility of the applicant and the editorial office (Hromada Zakarpattya) for publishing material that discredits the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The TRC suggested that journalists should have conducted "an independent journalistic investigation and provided truthful information."
