Driver, 65, killed in crash on Garden State Parkway

The driver of an SUV who ran off the Garden State Parkway and struck a guardrail in Passaic County on Thursday has died, authorities said over the weekend.

James Hallaway, 65, of Saddle River, was driving south in the area of milepost 155.4 in Clifton when he lost control shortly before 6 p.m. on Thursday, according to New Jersey State Police.

The SUV ran off the highway and struck the guardrail. Hallaway was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries, state police said.

There were no other vehicles involved, but the crash remains under investigation, according to state police.
