Report: Exciting goalscoring defender wants to join Liverpool, with the Reds fighting to get him

Just because there is no sporting director nor new manager appointed at Liverpool just yet, doesn’t mean the club is sitting idle. Transfer plans are already going to be drawn up for the summer window.

As reports have suggested, those transfer plans are being drawn up by two people in particular. It’s obvious the club’s recruitment team is hard at work. While the new manager and sporting director will have their say on major arrivals, in the meantime, the club can continue to target prospective future players.

One of those could be an exciting Moroccan youth international, who has been catching the eye at prestigious tournaments recently. And who, according to reports, would prefer a move to Anfield.

Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal Liverpool transfer latest

According to a report from Football Transfers, Liverpool are among a host of clubs interested in Moroccan U17 international Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal. The report states that the young centre-back would prefer a move to Anfield.

Ait Boudlal is highly rated. He has scored three goals in 10 international caps for Morocco at U17 level. He is already very tall at 1.90 metres, and very strong in the air. He won 70% of his 4.84 aerial duels per 90 at the U17 World Cup and AFCON last year as per Wyscout.

Currently, he plays for the Mohammed VI Academy, which has produced plenty of elite Moroccan talent over the last few years. Including Youssef En-Nesyri, Azzedine Ounahi and Nayef Aguerd, who all excelled at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Interestingly, Liverpool also participated in the Mohammed VI tournament in Morocco recently, where Ait Boudlal featured. He turns 18-years-old next month, which is when he will be eligible to make an international transfer as per FIFA rules. This is definitely one to keep an eye on.
