You hear the term ‘superhero fatigue’ pop up more now than ever, but if you go out of your way to look beyond the big Marvel blockbusters for lesser-known titles in the genre, you’ll find it’s thriving. There’s still lots of room to bring something fun and unique to the table, as a show like Extraordinary wonderfully illustrated when it arrived early last year. The viewers recognized its brilliance and, thankfully, so did Hulu because it’s back for season 2.

Extraordinary is a superhero comedy TV series that returned for season 2 on Hulu on Wednesday, March 6th 2024.
Created by Emma Moran, it stars Máiréad Tyers as Jen, a young woman and costume shop worker without superpowers… nothing to write home about? Well, in this world it is because everybody else has powers.
Season 1 navigates her disappointment and her personal life, which finds her living with flatmates who have unique powers like channeling spirits and manipulating time.

In season 2 we reunite with Jen as she continues to search for what her power may be. Meanwhile, the relationships established in the previous season experience new hurdles.
Think of a superhero rom-com that manages to capture alienation and touch on relatable themes and you’re right on track. It’s definitely one of the most refreshing entries in a saturated sub-genre I’ve seen for quite some time.
“I watched the first season in less than a day,” one fan commented on the trailer, “and I’m looking forward to doing the same with this one!” Honestly, it’s a mood. My superpower tonight will be the ability to stream for hours on end.
