The London-bound M2 is blocked following a crash involving “multiple vehicles”.
Both lanes are closed with traffic passing on the hard shoulder between Junction 5 at Stockbury Roundabout, Sittingbourne, and Junction 4, Gillingham.
Delays are building up on the route as drivers pass the scene.
National Highways says the road is expected to clear by 8pm.
