Heinz launch an insurance policy specifically for ‘ketchup related’ accidents

Heinz has launched the world’s first-ever ketchup insurance policy after customers reported an uptick in sauce-related incidents.

We’ve all been there, chowing down on some fries while naively wearing a white shirt. Then it happens. A thick glob of ketchup falls from your food and lands with a splat. You hurriedly try to wipe it away, no doubt making it significantly worse.

Research from the Arabian branch of the condiment giant found that 48% of customers regularly faced Heinz-related accidents despite 91% saying it’s always worth the risk.

In a bid to tackle the increase in spillages, Heinz has unveiled their newest program with 57 different types of claims. Such claims are reported to include stains on clothing and spills on pets, floors, and sofas.

There is a catch though as the insurance policy is currently only available to condiment lovers within the United Arab Emirates. Hopefully, if it’s a success, the rest of the world could reap the rewards laid out in thepress release.

Though customers are not provided with money for their trouble, the company is offering a range of rewards through the Middle East’s leading employee benefits app, My Benefits. These home cleaning services, laundry assistance, handyman services, and even spa treatments!

“Here at Heinz, we know our fans’ love for our ketchup can sometimes be, well, a bit over the top. Our research tells us that 48% of them have ketchup accidents all the time, but 91% swear their love for Heinz makes it totally worth it,” said Passant El Ghannam, Kraft’s head of marketing. “That’s why we’re rolling out ketchup insurance – to turn messy moments into pure joy and convenience for our die-hard fans, letting them enjoy their ketchup incidents worry-free.”

How to apply

Customers within the United Arab Emirates can apply through social media. All they need to do is post a picture of the accident alongside #HeinzKetchupInsurance.

Already, customers seem to be partaking in the hashtag as someone wrote on Instagram: “This brand. And how it always thinks of its loyal consumers.”
