10 unmissable movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this week

With so much content on Netflix, it can often be hard to decide on what to watch but The Focus has picked out 10 must-see movies and TV shows coming to the streaming service this week (March 11 – 17).

From enthralling drama and true-crime docuseries to truly bizarre comedy and a Lindsay Lohan rom-com, there’s certainly plenty for Netflix subscribers to choose from, no matter your taste.

Young Royals (season 3) | March 11

The week of new Netflix releases begins on March 11 with the return of the hit Swedish TV series Young Royals which is back for its third and final season as Prince Wilhelm and Simon attempt to navigate conflicting Royal ideals and traditions with their heartfelt desires.

Following the arrival of the first five episodes on March 11, the series finale will drop on March 18 alongside a behind-the-scenes documentary, Young Royals Forever.

Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War | March 12

At a time when tensions with Russia are at their highest point in years, new documentary Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War is the definitive documentary on the frigid conflict, telling the story of the decades-long deadlock between the US and Soviet Union, now Russia.

Bandits | March 13

Known in Spanish as Bandidos, this Mexican series follows a group of bandits who embark on a dangerous adventure in the Mexican Caribbean as they search for a treasure that has been lost for years.

From Dreams to Tragedy: The Fire That Shook Brazilian Football | March 14

This three-episode docuseries recounts the tragic events surrounding the deadly fire at the training ground of Rio de Janeiro-based soccer team Flamengo which resulted in the deaths of 10 youth players between the ages of 14 and 17.

Girls5eva (season 3) | March 14

After Peacock elected not to renew Girls5eva after its second season, Netflix has picked up the musical comedy series which follows the titular girl group as they reunite following a spell of success in the 1990s.

In an effort to banish their one-hit-wonder status, Dawn, Wickie, Summer and Gloria prepare to embark on a comeback tour following the release of their new album, Returnity.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Girls5eva are also being added to Netflix on the same day if you want to catch up with the girls’ story from the beginning.

Chicken Nugget | March 15

The latest Netflix series from South Korea promises to be a bizarre one as the comedy tells the story of a woman who steps into a strange machine and is transformed into a chicken nugget.

In an effort to save her and turn her back into a human, the woman’s father and a young man with a crush on her must team up and embark on a mind-bending quest.

Irish Wish | March 15

Following her return in Falling for Christmas, Lindsay Lohan is back in another Netflix rom-com, Irish Wish.

Lohan takes on the role of Maddie in the movie, a woman whose lifelong love is about to marry her best friend. When Maddie makes a spontaneous wish, she suddenly wakes up as the bride-to-be, only to realize that her soulmate might be someone else after all.

Iron Reign | March 15

A new arrival from Spain, Iron Reign tells the story of the Manchado family and its deadly drug empire.

The family operates from Barcelona’s seaport until a surprising new shipment sends their business into chaos.

The Outreau Case: A French Nightmare | March 15

A new true-crime series from France, The Outreau Case explores one of the biggest legal scandals France has ever seen.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More | March 15

And finally, the week is ending with the re-release of four short films that have already been on Netflix for several months.

But following the Oscar triumph of The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, the individual films are being combined into one anthology movie so viewers can experience all of them together.

Directed by Wes Anderson, the quartet of films are adaptations of four short stories by the legendary children’s author Roald Dahl. They include The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Poison, The Rat Catcher, and The Swan.

All of the movies and TV shows listed above will be available to stream on Netflix from the week commencing March 11, 2024.
