Celebrity Big Brother star secured her own show after chance encounter in IKEA

Zeze Millz is making her TV fame on Celebrity Bog Brother, but she’s no stranger to cameras thanks to the success of The Zeze Millz Show. But her success is all thanks to a surprise trip to IKEA.

As Celebrity Big Brother gets well underway, Zeze was saved by Sharon Osbourne in the public eviction. Before CBB, Zeze was making moves on YouTube over the last few years as a successful presenter.

Zeze Millz before Celebrity Big Brother

Zeze Mills launched to fame with The Zeze Mills Show on YouTube, where she has interviewed Fireboy DML, Wiley, Big Narstie, Beenie Man and police officers from the Metropolitan Police.

In November 2021, she hosted a weekly late-night topical discussion programme with Yinka Bokinni on Channel 4 called Unapologetic, but her career really took off after she launched #headscarfdiaries.

When Zeze and her friends were stopped from going to a West End nightclub because they were dark-skin Black women and “too big,” she started the popular Instagram series and garnered serious attention.

She secured own show in IKEA

The series that became key to Zeze’s online stardom is The Zeze Mills Show, which was born in none other than IKEA. She was picking up furniture for her home when she bumped into a man called Andy.

She told GRM Daily how Andy is now her show producer, who “believed in her vision”. When Zeze saw him in IKEA, she “had to seize the opportunity” and introduced herself as the #headscarfdiaries owner.

Zeze said, “It’s not got mad views but it’s got good engagement for my following, it might end up on a couple of blog pages, I want to take it to the next level and I think you have the demographic.”

He gave her his contact details, asking her to email him, and she went to see him for a screen test. They started the following week, launching the new YouTube channel from scratch – and the rest is history!

Inside CBB star’s online success

A self-professed “cultural commentator and presenter,” Zeze was previously working a 9-5 job in events marketing, but was made redundant during the pandemic and began to form a social media presence.

She’s been on several videos, such as Stormzy’s Mel Made Me Do It and in Aml Ameen’s film Boxing Day as herself, as well as worked at prestigious events like the MOBO Awards.

The CBB star was a presenter at the GRM Daily Rated Awards 2022 and was nominated for Personality Of The Year, before going on to produce the show, Young, Black and Right-Wing on Channel 4!
