Dejan Kulusevski impressed by what Timo Werner did against Aston Villa that went unnoticed

Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has hailed Timo Werner for something he did at Villa Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s men were able to seal all three points with an emphatic victory on Sunday against their top four rivals.

And Timo Werner was able to get on the scoresheet from the bench, but Dejan Kulusevski was impressed by something else he did.

Timo Werner impressing for Spurs

The German winger was only able to come off the bench on the weekend with Brennan Johnson given the nod on the left.

However, he had a big impact when he came on as he scored his second in his second consecutive game.

But speaking on the Spurs Debrief, Kulusevski has hailed Werner for his efforts in pulling the defenders away from Heung-min Son for the South Korean’s goal.

The Swede said on his assist for Son: “It was great that Timo attacked the second post, but I could see clearly that Sonny was alone so I passed him the ball and then it was a really good finish.”

Competition on the wings

With the form Spurs are now beginning to show in attack, there is some serious competition for places out wide.

And this all comes at a time when the South Korean captain is playing through the middle in the absence of Richarlison.

Johnson and Werner were both able to get their names on the scoresheet, whilst Kulusevski was able to offer an assist.

So it will be interesting to see how the Australian puts together his starting XI when the Brazilian striker returns from injury.

Son is finding the back of the net with consistency through the middle and the wingers are also playing their role.

The Spurs News understands Tottenham would be open to the possibility of selling Richarlison in the summer.

But it certainly leads to an interesting selection decision for when the 26-year-old does return to the fold.
