Three of ABC's most popular shows are making their return with new season premieres

The ABC network has been home to a wealth of amazing and popular shows across the years. Whether it’s shows that have been picked up after they’d begun elsewhere like The Good Doctor or ones born on the network to begin with like The Rookie, there’s been lots to enjoy. But let’s not dwell on the past, instead staring straight ahead. Three beloved shows are returning to the air tonight for brand-new seasons, and it’s safe to say that ABC Thursdays are back and bigger than ever.

ABC restores stacked Thursday night line-up

On Thursday, March 14th 2024, ABC is premiering all new seasons of three of its most popular TV shows: 911, Grey’s Anatomy, and Station 19.

Kicking off an exciting night at home, first we have 911 season 7 at 8 pm ET/PT. Episode 1 will welcome fans back into the fold, reuniting us with Athena and Bobby and their plans for a perfect honeymoon cruise. However, as the profession can demand, they put their plans on hold when duty all but screams their names.

After a new episode of 911, the long-running favorite medical drama Grey’s Anatomy triumphantly returns for season 20 at 9 pm ET/PT. You can also stream on Hulu.

For this latest installment, we can expect to find the interns in hot water following the death of a patient. Meanwhile, Meredith is forced to rethink and revise her plans.

Last but not least for the trio of new programming, don’t miss out on the premiere of Station 19 season 7, a perfect way to end the night and a no-brainer to follow-up Grey’s Anatomy. The Grey’s spin-off’s new episode sees Andy step up as Captain.

Grey’s Anatomy season 20 is ‘back to basics’

Writer and producer Meg Marinis is now the Grey’s Anatomy showrunner and revealed during an interview with Deadline that “A theme for the [new] season is back to basics for these interns. Just like you recover from an illness, these interns have a recovery to go through.”

She assured fans that “So much of what happened at the end of last year’s finale continues throughout this season. We really don’t just forget about it. Everything still weighs on everyone and how they can truly move forward and not make the same mistakes again.” It does, in fact, pick up right where season 19 left off.

A big question of many audiences’ minds is whether this will be the final season. “I’ve not been informed that this is the last season so I’m going to keep going and telling stories as long as they let me,” Meg clarified. “We still have stories to tell. We receive a tremendous amount of support from the studio and the network and from Shondaland…”

911 kicks off a triple-bill of new episodes on ABC at 8 pm ET/PT.
