Rangers injury news and return dates vs Dundee with 9 potentially sidelined

The very latest Rangers injury news and potential return dates as Philippe Clement’s side prepare to face Dundee at Dens Park on Sunday.

It’s a quick European to Scottish Premiership turnaround for Rangers once again, but it will be for the last time this season after getting knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday.

Benfica managed to secure an impressive 1-0 win at Ibrox as the Light Blues failed to turn up and cause the Portuguese giants many problems defensively.

The visitors were comfortable throughout and Rafa Silva’s solo goal was the difference on the night. 3-2 was the aggregate scoreline but Rangers can be proud of their efforts in the competition this season.

Full focus now turns to wrapping up a domestic Treble with Rangers fighting hard in both the league and Scottish Cup.

Dundee are Sunday’s opponents and while Gers thumped Tony Docherty’s men last time out at Dens Park, it’s not going to be the easiest of fixtures.

As far as injury news is concerned, Rangers could have as many as nine players missing from the first-team squad this weekend. That depends on the availability of Dujon Sterling and Ross McCausland.

Here’s the latest on the injury front at the club and when each player could make their return to action.

Dujon Sterling injury latest

Dujon Sterling was seen limping after Rangers drew 2-2 with Benfica last week in Lisbon. However, he managed to start in the Scottish Cup win a few days later against Hibs.

But he pulled up with a hamstring injury in the first-half at Easter Road and had to go off. Philippe Clement said it is a ‘minor thing’ while giving a further update to the press on Thursday.

The manager said: “Dujon is going to be a really doubtful one towards Sunday. We will see but we will not take a risk with him to have him out longer term.”

Ross McCausland injury latest

Clement also provided news on winger Ross McCausland who managed to make the bench in the loss to Benfica. He was an unused substitute on the night.

Speaking on Thursday night, the Belgian said: “Ross McCausland still struggled today so he was on the bench because you need to think this game could be possibly 120 minutes.”

Abdallah Sima injury latest

Clement was asked specifically about the progress loanee Abdallah Sima is making after suffering a serious thigh injury whilst on AFCON duty with Senegal in January.

The boss responded: “Abda is in the same way that was (the) prognosis before. He feels really good step by step.

“We are doing the rehab more so it is outside (training) at the moment for sure, not with the team yet. But he’s progressing really well and that is a good thing.
