Sean Bruce is the new BBBofC Super-Flyweight champion of the Midlands Area after defeating previously undefeated fighter Frazer Morgan and becomes Carl Greaves’ 24th champion

Carl Greaves’ 24th champion was crowned as Sean Bruce became the BBBofC Super-Flyweight champion of the Midlands Area after a tough fight against an undefeated opponent.

Bruce moved up to 5-0 after securing a points decision against Frazer Morgan in the bout which topped the bill at Arleston Hall, Derby.

He trains under former professional boxer, Rendall Munroe who was known as the Boxing Binman.

“It was a 50/50 fight going in, they were both unbeaten and both lads had not fought ten rounds before.

“It was a big step up for them both and I thought Sean boxed very well.

“He had Frazer in trouble a number of times, Frazer showed a lot of heart to get through that fight.

“Sean has done a ten rounder now and we are hoping to get him an English title shot by the end of the year.

“It was a fantastic fight and a great win for the stable after a couple of recent defeats.”

The fight came after Greaves held his own show at the Morningside Arena in Leicester which saw 1600 people attend to watch.

The King of the Midlands fight night saw 11 bouts with Greaves’ Stanley Stannard topping the bill fighting for the vacant Midlands Area super-welterweight title against undefeated boxer Ashlee Eales.

It wasn’t to be Stannard’s night as he lost by just one point in what was a tough, close fight between the two men.

“It was a very close fight that could have gone either way,” said Greaves.

“It was very disappointing but I am not arguing with the result, it was a tight contest.

“Another fighter of mine, Callum Blockley who was fighting in an English title eliminator drew against Jacob Quinn from Bradford.

“It was another tight result and the referee thought the draw was the best outcome for that fight.”

The upset of the night was Tyler Rivers who registered his first defeat in his fight against dangerous journeyman Jordan Grannum after being rocked in the first round.

“It wasn’t Tyler’s night unfortunately,” said Greaves.

“He is a good fighter and he puts a lot into everything.

“It is a setback for him but he is definately capable of bouncing back.”

Greaves’ next show will be in Newark at the Showgrounds when The Night of Prospects event will be held on March 23.
