‘His feet work quicker than his brain’: Jamie O’Hara says £47.5m Tottenham Hotspur player has a major flaw

Tottenham Hotspur hammered Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend, but on Saturday, Ange Postecoglou’s side slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage in the London derby.

Aston Villa are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, so the emphatic 4-0 win against Unai Emery’s side was a massive statement of intent from Tottenham Hotspur.

Yes, Villa ended the game with 10 men after John McGinn was sent off in the 65th minute, but Spurs were already 2-0 up at that stage.

On Saturday, Spurs took on Fulham away from home in the Premier League. Tottenham lost 3-0. Two of the three goals came in the second half.

Most of the Tottenham players were disappointing, and one of them was Brennan Johnson. The £47.5 million (Sky Sports) Wales international started the match for Spurs.

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou deployed the 22-year-old on the left of a three-man attacking midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Jamie O’Hara comments on Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson vs Tottenham Hotspur

Johnson came off in the 80th minute for Richarlison. Former Tottenham player Jamie O’Hara was not impressed by the display produced by the youngster and had noted that his pace can affect his game at times.

O’Hara said about Johnson on talkSPORT (8:09 pm, March 16, 2024): “Brennan Johnson for me, Gab, you know, he is so quick.

“Look, you are someone who had loads of pace, right? I just feel like sometimes his feet work quicker than his brain, do you know what I mean?

“I am looking at him, like going, go and sort out your feet out, and you will score. Sort your feet out and you will go past him.”

My View: Let us be patient with Brennan Johnson

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur fans should not be too harsh on Brennan Johnson.

Yes, Johnson did not have the best of matches against Fulham. He could have scored in the first half and struggled to make an impact in the second period before he was taken off.

But, he is only 22. We cannot expect the youngster to be at the top of his game in each and every match.

Johnson needs to work on his decision-making and perhaps calm himself down a bit when he has the ball at his feet.

But, all this will come in due time. After all, he is a very young player who is just starting his career.
