'Everyone came': Amad shares what his Manchester United teammates told him after Liverpool winner

Amad Diallo has shared what his Manchester United teammates told him after his winning goal against Liverpool.

Manchester United won a remarkable FA Cup quarter-final tie with Liverpool 4-3 on Sunday in a comeback for the ages.

Scott McTominay had given United a first-half lead but two goals in the final minutes of the half turned things around.

United looked unlikely to fight back in a limp second half until Erik ten Hag’s substitutes got them back into it and Antony squirmed in a late equaliser.

Extra time would bring yet more drama as Harvey Elliott gave the visitors the lead once more but Marcus Rashford levelled things with a fine finish.

Then in the 120th minute, Alejandro Garnacho charged up the pitch and teed up Amad to scrape home the winner.

The Ivorian was then sent off after earning a second booking for taking his shirt off but no one cared much. Now he has shared what his teammates told him afterwards.

What United players told Amad after his goal

Speaking to ITV, Amad said: “Everyone came to me, say: ‘Congratulations, Amad, you deserve this.’

“I want to thank everyone, the fans were superb today. All game. So thanks.

“I forgot my celebration but the most important thing today was to win.”

A turning point for Amad?

Amad has been waiting patiently for his opportunities in the United team this season and they have been hard to come by.

The 21-year-old has had to watch Antony get far more minutes when the Brazilian, other than today, has repeatedly failed to deliver.

Rashford even believes he should have got more time on the pitch but when given the chance to make the biggest possible impact. He took it.

Amad will be suspended for the next Premier League match against Brentford after his red card but hopefully afterwards he gets more opportunities in the side. He’s earned them.
