Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea got the better of Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Chelsea, who are having a torrid time in the Premier League, beat Championship club Leicester City 4-2 at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
It was not the most comfortable of wins for the Blues. Mauricio Pochettino’s side scored twice in injury time to win against the Foxes, who, along with Leeds United, are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship table this season.
Cole Palmer was one of the best players for Chelsea in the FA Cup tie. The 21-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or a winger, provided the assist for Carney Chukwuemeka’s goal in the second minute of injury time.
Palmer, who joined the Blues from Manchester City in the summer of 2023, set up Nicolas Jackson to cross for the first goal and himself scored the second goal for the home team.

Former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager Alan Pardew was impressed with Palmer. The talkSPORT pundit thinks that the England international has been Chelsea’s best player so far this season.
Pardew said about Palmer on talkSPORT (7:54 pm, March 17, 2024): “Cole Palmer’s ability for the winning goal, for the third goal, was outstanding, and that’s why he is included in the England squad. He has been terrific for Chelsea, probably their Player of the Season so far. Let’s see how that unfolds.”
Big win for Chelsea
Chelsea are not going anywhere in the Premier League this season and lost the final of the Carabao Cup to Liverpool.
So, the FA Cup is the only competition that Chelsea can win this season. The victory over Leicester City was massive for the Blues in terms of giving the players and the fans something to look forward to.
Chelsea will take on Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. It is going to be tough for the Blues to win against the Citizens, but you never know.
