'He was exceptional'... MUTV duo rave about Manchester United star in win v Liverpool

Manchester United youngster Amad scored a late winner against Liverpool, executing a counter-attack superbly with Alejandro Garnacho.

It wasn’t so long ago both Amad and Alejandro Garnacho were playing academy football for Manchester United.

And here we are, celebrating them combining for a winner at the Stretford End to clinch a4-3 extra-time win over Liverpool. It’s what dreams are made of.

Garnacho in particular did well to keep his cool, carrying the ball upfield and picking the pass to Amad at the perfect time, before the Ivorian supplied the finish.

Alejandro Garnacho praised

Alejandro Garnacho’s contribution was discussed on MUTV after the win, with the teenager keeping his cool, and still having the fitness to burst up the pitch in the 120th minute.

Post-match host Mark Sullivan told the channel: “What about going out towards the extra time, his energy, to still be able to run up with his pace, with the ball, to have the awareness he had around him.

“I thought he was exceptional particularly in that extra time period.”

Former United youngster Danny Simpson was in total agreement over Garnacho’s threat.

He responded: “There is nothing worse as a full-back, or any defender, when your feeling a bit tired and tired and thinking ‘why is he still going, how is he still going?'”

“Eventually he ran through running back and he’s laid off to Amad, I thought ‘was it just behind’, but it was two young kids that won us the game in the end.”

Alejandro Garnacho kept going

Garnacho’s fitness is one of his top qualities. He is theonly player to be in every single matchday squad for Manchester United this season.

This was also apparent in his academy days during United’s run to win the FA Youth Cup in 2022. He scored a late goal in quarter-final win at Everton, where he sprinted the entire length of the pitch to net on the counter attack.

His ability to do this late in the game demonstrated his fitness, which combined with his pace, is a devastating quality, and fans were hopeful he would be able to bring it to the first team. Now we are seeing it.
