Aston Villa may already have a 'simply superb' replacement for one Unai Emery favourite - opinion

Aston Villa have a strong asset in their ranks as Oliwier Zych continues to impress on loan, giving Unai Emery a thought over an eventual heir to Emi Martinez.

Aston Villa have a host of talent associated with the club with names in the first team and academy showing a high level of performance this term.

Unai Emery only needs to glance at the rising talents at Bodymoor Heath to know the future at Villa is in good hands.

One player who could prove to be an integral part of the Villans’ squad in the future is Oliwier Zych, who is impressing on loan at Polish top-flight club, Puszcza Niepolomice.

In 2020, Aston Villa welcomed Zych from Polish outfit Lubin, integrating the teenager into the U18’s squad.

The youngster made 20 appearances at U18 level before moving up to the U21’s squad where he has recorded 26 appearances so far in goal.

Back in September, it was decided that it would be the best decision to send the goalkeeper on loan back to his homeland, where he has since been highly impressive for Puszcza Niepolomice.

This week, it was highlighted by talent scout Jacek Kulig that the 19-year-old has hit searing form in Poland, preventing a monstrous 2.59 goals in his previous three league fixtures.

Lauded as being “simply superb” by Kulig, Zych’s loan spell could hand Emery with a future option to replace the formidable Emi Martinez.

While it will be a while before we can expect to see the Argentine move on from Villa Park or retire, the manager could be prompted to closely follow the development of Zych as a figure that could benefit the club in the future.

The loan spell is a strong indication of how the teenager could one day fare at senior level, with him playing in the first team in a league as impressive as Ekstraklasa.

It should be noted that the type of opposition that the youngster is coming up against includes clubs in the calibre of Legia Warsaw, who beat Villa earlier this season in the Europa Conference League.

Only time will tell just how pivotal Zych’s role could be at Villa Park in the future however, early indications suggest that the 19-year-old could have a strong career head.
