'Can I just say': Ben Foster blasts £164k-a-week Tottenham man after moment in second half at Fulham

It was a hugely disappointing, and surprising result as Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 3-0 defeat at Fulham on the weekend – in what was a bitter blow to their chances of finishing in the top four.

Spurs remain in fifth but with Villa only managing a draw against West Ham, a win would have taken them into fourth. However, Fulham were rampant, dismantling Ange Postecoglou‘s side to win 3-0.

Spurs had plenty of chances to score goals against Marco Silva’s side but lady luck shone on Fulham – who were relentless in the final third. It sees Spurs remain in fifth, three points behind Aston Villa.

Postecoglou’s men still boast a game in hand – but, are particularly inconsistent at the moment and need to go on a run to challenge Unai Emery’s men. Timo Werner was as guilty as anyone on Saturday.

Speaking on his podcast this week, Ben Foster blasted the £164k-a-week attacker – who is being linked with a permanent move to Spurs. Beforehand, he had impressed, having a hand in four goals for Spurs.

Ben Foster blasts wasteful Tottenham attacker Timo Werner

Indeed, the attacker has made it clear that he does not want to leave Spurs at the end of his loan. It is believed that Werner has no future at RB Leipzig, in what was his second spell with the Bundesliga side.

But the Germany star was poor on Saturday, as were many of his teammates. He missed a glorious chance towards the end of the game with the match lost – and Foster criticised the former Chelsea man.

“Tottenham were very, very wasteful can I just say. Timo Werner in particular, he had one chance in the second half – the game was probably dead by this point,” Foster said on his latest podcast, this week.

“But three yards out, just got to put a contact on it, and the ball hits the top of his shin and goes right over the bar. Glaring chances, didn’t have their shooting boots on,” Foster added, on Werner’s chance.
